East Hampton Democratic Committee Member Cate Rogers was last night elected chair of the East Hampton Town Democratic Committee to replace retired Chairperson Jeanne Frankl. By an overwhelming majority the 29 members of the committee voted in favor of Ms Rogers vs her challenger Rona Klopman 60% to 40%. After her win Ms Rogers stated her appreciation of the committee’s support and of the leadership responsibility saying “our committee is known for the excellent work we’ve done in connecting with our voters and their issues and the community at large and I intend to sustain and to further that reputation”
As a long time East Hampton resident and recently retired Member and Vice-Chairperson of East Hampton Town’s Zoning Board of Appeals over the past 9 years she currently serves on the Town’s Energy Sustainability Committee and is also a Climate Leader in Vice-President Al Gore’s Climate Change initiative.
Commenting on the election, Jeanne Frankl said, “I am excited that Cate Rogers, has been elected by a strong majority of the Democratic Committee to lead and take us into the future. Cate has the experience and vision to inspire us and the temperament to bring us together in working for sound, progressive, forward looking Democratic governance both locally and nationally”. Ms. Rogers also thanked Jeanne Frankl for her long service and stated that “we will work hard collaboratively and fulfill our mission as Democrats dedicated to our community and our country.”
