
East Hampton Trustee
David Cataletto is running for reelection as East Hampton Town Trustee. He was first elected in 2021.
David grew up in East Hampton with a big extended family and went through the great public schools here. He has always loved the outdoors, surfing, sailing, fishing and lifeguarding in the summer.
After graduation, David attended UMass Amherst and majored in Anthropology. He received his master’s degree in Education and now teaches 6th-grade English and World History at the EH Middle School. He’s been teaching for 15 years.
At school, he runs the SurferRider club and has helped to lead beach clean-ups and clam and oyster seedings. Last Fall, the club took stand up paddle boards out in 3 Mile harbor with Barley Dunne, head of the ShellFish Hatchery, and seeded 300 thousand oysters. David tries to pass on a love of nature and a responsibility to preserve and enhance it to his students.
David lives in the NW woods with his wife, 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter. His wife is an art teacher at Pierson high school.
David is a founding trustee at the Amagansett Life Saving Station Museum and currently heads the Education committee there. He is also on the East Hampton Historical Society education committee and gives history talks throughout the year.
He is also on the EH Nature Preserve committee and enjoys being a part of maintaining and helping to grow our wonderful trail system. An avid Mountain biker, David uses the trails a few times a week.
David is a dedicated Trustee who is especially passionate about keeping our waters clean, keeping beach access rights, expanding our renewable energies and preserving our wetlands. He currently serves on the following committees; Ponds, Education, Accabonac Harbor, Hog Creek and NW Creek.
