Tommy John Schiavoni for NY State Assembly

Tommy John Schiavoni is a husband, father, retired teacher of 32 years and member of the Southampton Town Board.

For three generations Tommy John’s family operated a local plumbing and heating business in Sag Harbor where he began working at the age of twelve. Growing up on construction sites with master tradesmen, Tommy John gained the knowledge and experience that to this day fuels his desire to find pragmatic solutions to problems, mechanical and otherwise.

With a passion for History and Government Tommy John earned a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in Social Studies at SUNY Cortland and became a teacher. While working full-time, he earned a Master’s Degree from SUNY Stony Brook furthering his career as a High School Social Studies Teacher in the Center Moriches School District where he worked from 1988 to retirement in 2018, teaching Participation in Government, Economics, US History and Government.

On the Southampton Town Council, Tommy John focuses on practical solutions to problems in our communities while maintaining his commitment to a healthy environment, a sound local economy, and support of the arts and education in all forms.

Now, Tommy John Schiavoni is running for New York State Assembly to bring his pragmatic approach and deep experience to bear representing our community in Albany.

An active member of local government since 2008:

  • Appointed to the North Haven Village Zoning Board of Appeals in 2008
  • Elected to the North Haven Village Board in 2014
  • Appointed to the Southampton Town ZBA in 2016
  • Served on the Sag Harbor School Board of Education from 2014 to 2017
  • Elected to Southampton Town Council in 2017

Priorities in Albany:

  • Increasing affordable housing opportunities
  • Addressing community health issues like tick-borne illnesses, mental health and opioid addiction
  • Improving water quality
  • Supporting clean energy initiatives
  • Providing solutions for small businesses
  • Investing in our education system
