Public service has shaped every chapter of Chris Gallant’s life. He joined the New York Army National Guard at 17 and never looked back. Chris was deployed multiple times to Kuwait and flew several missions overseas. He has protected our airspace as an FAA air traffic controller, stood up for his coworkers as a union leader and worked as a volunteer firefighter in his community. For years, he made split-second decisions to keep people safe. Now he’s stepping up to bring that same focused, steady leadership to Congress.
Long Island is home. Chris has seen firsthand the challenges families here are facing: the rising costs, the fragile infrastructure, the storms that keep coming. He’s also seen the strength and resilience of the people who live here. He believes that the people of Suffolk County deserve leaders who stay focused on them, not on political theater.
Chris and his fiancé both serve in the military. He’s been openly gay in the military since just after Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell ended, and he’s learned to speak plainly, hold the line, and back up what he says. He’s also learned how to listen — and how to bring people with very different views to the table and actually make progress.

As a military pilot, firefighter, union leader, and public servant, Chris Gallant understands that missions succeed because there is a plan. The Gallant Mission Plan 2027 is a roadmap for what Chris will fight to accomplish during his first term in Congress, focused on bringing federal resources back to Long Island and delivering measurable results for NY-01.
Chris is running to:
- Lower the cost of living so Long Island families can stay here, raise their children, and give the next generation a real shot.
- Make sure Long Island is prepared for the next storm. Fix what’s broken, build what’s needed, and make sure Long Island’s roads, bridges, water systems, and broadband reflect what Suffolk County taxpayers actually pay into.
- Protect the health care and retirement security Long Islanders have earned, lower prescription drug costs, and make health care more affordable, reliable, and accessible for every family.
- Make Long Island a national model for veteran care with faster access, stronger mental health services, real housing support, and a Northport VA that finally lives up to what the men and women who served this country deserve.
- Fight for the wages, protections, and opportunities that Long Island’s working people have earned, and build an economy where a union card still means a path to the middle class.
- Restore trust in government by bringing transparency, accountability, and integrity back to Washington.
