Jim Lubetkin ED-3
“I’m a lifelong Democrat who, for the past ten years, has served on your Democratic Committee. I love Amagansett and I love living here. I support our Party’s efforts to protect the environment, serve our most vulnerable citizens and seek solutions to the severe shortage of affordable housing. Most importantly, I believe in our Party’s efforts to do what is inclusive and morally right; in these politically divisive times, nothing is more important.
My roots go back to New York City where I grew up. I received a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and master’s degrees in journalism and business administration from Columbia University, and went on to serve as an Army officer and was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam.
Now retired following a career spanning more than forty years in healthcare and higher education, I have tried to give back to the community: every Monday morning since 2014 I’ve delivered meals to the homebound through East Hampton’s Meals on Wheels, where I’ve served as its President. I currently serve as adjutant in the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; am an Election Inspector for the Suffolk County Board of Elections; and, with my wife, clean up a one-mile stretch of Amagansett roadway as part of the Town’s Adopt-a-Road program. I join others marching in East Hampton’s Pride Parade … and for the past ten years have cast aside humility to appear dressed as “Froggie” in the annual AmO’Gansett St. Patrick’s Day Parade. I strongly support the important work of Town Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez and our Town Board: in an imperfect world, Kathee and the Board have worked hard – very hard – to strengthen our already-strong community. And finally, this: I ask for your support on June 23 so that I can continue to serve as your representative on East Hampton’s Democratic Committee.”
Mary Busch ED-4
Mary Busch moved to the East End after retiring from a career in education working with children and adults and found a small house near the village of East Hampton. As a year-round resident she has volunteered in organizations such as LVIS, the Garden Club of East Hampton, the East Hampton Historical Society, the Village Preservation Society, community outreach at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the very initial planning of the recently formed Town’s Latino Advisory Committee. All have in their mission the protection of the character, beauty and history of East Hampton as well as furthering the betterment of its residents.
Since returning as a member of the East Hampton Democratic Committee, Mary had the pleasure of meeting and greeting a new group of residents in Springs ED4 during the recent petition signing. Driving around ED4 the message was very clear from the residents. Everyone wanted our Town government to be transparent, listen to its residents and to be responsive to their economic, physical and safety concerns. Mary would like to be a part of helping to keep lines of communication open in both directions in order to accomplish this.
Loring Bolger ED-4
Loring Bolger rented, then bought, property in Springs in the early 1980’s as a weekend and summer retreat from City life. Around the turn of the century with kids grown and her business sold, she realized she was spending more and more time in Springs and less in her apartment. In 2004 she sold her apartment and replaced her tiny cottage with a family home. Slowly (or maybe not so slowly) she became involved in community life, joining the Springs Improvement Society’s Board then the Springs Citizens Advisory Committee where she has acted as Chair since 2014. She is an active member of the Accabonac Protection Committee and served on its Board for many years. She is also a founding Board member of the Arts Center at Duck Creek as well as a founding member of the Heart of Springs. She serves as liaison to the Town Board liaison to the Springs Historical Society. She works with the Springs School as a member of their Communications Committee. She also sits on the EH Property Management Committee. Loring joined the Democratic Committee as a representative of ED4 in 2018 along with her co-representative, Zachary Cohen.
Joe Gonzalez ED-5
“I have proudly called East Hampton home for almost 40 years. I’ve been happily married to my wife, Kathee Burke Gonzalez, for nearly 30 years, and I am a proud father to Nina and Burke. I am currently in my 40th year working as a bartender, a profession that has kept me closely connected to the community.
For over two decades, I’ve had a front row seat to Kathee’s public service. Bearing witness to her commitment to serving our community has motivated and inspired me to step forward and serve our community directly. I am seeking to represent East Hampton Town’s Election District 5.
I am committed to the fundamental values that make our community strong: preserving open space, expanding affordable housing, supporting our neighbors and improving infrastructure. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, walking, playing golf and cooking.”
Alyson D. Follenius ED-5
Alyson Follenius is a 14th generation Bonacker, a lifelong East Hampton resident, deeply rooted in the community she proudly serves. Her passion for community well-being continued during her graduate studies in Public Health at George Washington University, where she developed a clear understanding of how public policy directly impacts population health at both the local and national levels. Alyson returned home after graduate school where she continues to invest her time and energy into strengthening the community. Professionally, Alyson has worked as a health coach and spent several years with Project MOST, in part as a yoga instructor focused on social and emotional wellness. She has also dedicated more than two decades to teaching East Hampton’s youth to swim each summer, building confidence and safety skills while fostering lasting connections with local families. You’ll often find her telling her younger students that she is in fact a mermaid and lives in the ocean! Her love of teaching swimming also led her to volunteer with A Walk on Water, a surf therapy program for individuals with unique needs and their families. Alyson currently works for the East Hampton Town Trustees, a role which has provided insight into the inner workings of local government. Alyson serves as a representative for election district 5. Since joining the committee in April 2025, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to grassroots organizing, embracing the “boots on the ground” work as essential to a healthy democratic process. Alyson is the founder of the East Hampton chapter of Beacon for Democracy, a national 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to connecting, educating and mobilizing people from all backgrounds in support of a more compassionate democracy. In addition, Alyson serves on the Town of East Hampton, Latino Advisory Committee and is an active member of the People for Democracy EH, the local Indivisible chapter, which organizes community actions such as the recent No Kings demonstration. Alyson is also an advocate for catching quality R&R on the beach or stand-up paddling in the Crick. Alyson is proud of her deep Bonac roots. She is committed to her civic leadership and is excited to continue to advocate for her community.

Jerry Butler ED-7
“I was born and lived in the city but I was lucky enough to have an aunt who saved her money for years to buy a small house in Cape Elizabeth, ME. Those summers gave me a feeling for New England. It was home away from home where my friends I grew up with were the kids of fishmen, lobstermen and farmers. The first time I saw East Hampton, Montauk and the point, I felt I was back in New England and of course I was, I just didn’t know it yet. I did know I was going to make East Hampton my home and we, my wife Leslie and I partially did that in 1992. Partially raised our twin children here and finally were able to move here permanently in 2017. I was in book publishing my whole life from the day I left college until….well, now. I’m a numbers and operations guy meaning I know how numbers work. I often tell people that numbers talk to me. In operations I managed everyone except the editors. I’ve been a member of the East Hampton/Sag Harbor Citizens Advisory Committee for five years, serving as the Chair for the last three. I am one of two representatives to ED7 better known as Wainscott to the EH Democratic Party. I supported their fight against turning the sand pit into a shopping center and fighting turning Wainscott into a Village raising everyone’s taxes just so a few wealthy people could stop the electric supply from the Windmills from coming ashore via their road. I think that’s what the Democratic Party is here to do. I’m proud to be a part of the Democrats of East Hampton.”
Jerry Mulligan ED-8
Jerry was introduced to East Hampton in 1972 and has been here ever since. He and his wife Jenny built their home on Hands Creek Road in 1978. He is active on the committee and held a variety of offices including Secretary, Treasurer, Vice Chairman and Chairman. Jerry was also heavily involved in the effort to bring South Fork Wind into existence. Jerry was one of the founding members of Win With Wind (“WWW”) which was organized by a group of local residents of East Hampton Town to provide the public with accurate information about wind energy and the proposed South Fork Wind Farm and its impact on the environment. WWW and its volunteers raised funds, held various events , attended public functions, published brochures, collected petitions, knocked on doors and attended all of the meetings the NYS Public Service Commission held at the East Hampton Town Hall. Today South Fork Wind Farm is the only fully operational commercial sized offshore wind farm in the US. It provides electricity to more than 70,000 homes and businesses on the South Fork.
