HAPPY NEW YEAR!

SUPERVISOR

East Hampton’s legislative power is vested in a Town Board, which consists of five members. The Supervisor, who is the presiding member and Chief Fiscal Officer, is elected for a term of 2 years. The 4 other Councilpersons are elected to 4-year terms. Town Board members are elected, and there are no limitations to the number of terms which they may serve. The town supervisor fills a significant role, serving in several major capacities, including: Presiding Officer (Chairperson), Town Legislator (Town Board Member), Town Executive and Administrator and Town Fiscal Officer.

SUPERINTENDENT OF HIGHWAYS

The East Hampton Town Highway Department maintains 300 center lane miles of roads in an area that spans from Montauk to the East Hampton/Southampton Town Line and Sag Harbor to the North. The town superintendent of highways is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of town highways and bridges, and the removal of obstructions caused by brush and snow. They also oversee the day to day operations of the Sanitation Department and maintain the Municipal and Beach parking lots.
